How we work
Project management methodologies
Our project management processes are derived from PRINCE 2 methods and adapted to suit the needs of each project and client. Emphasis is always placed on getting things done, with project documentation and processes implemented to this effect and not simply because they exist.
Our standard tools include Microsoft Project for an overview of scheduling, deadlines and critical paths, and Excel for tracking and more local schedules. We have in-house project reporting systems and documentation that can be readily deployed on behalf of clients; or our experienced consultants can work equally effectively with clients’ own established systems.
As a basic minimum most projects will have a project initiation document, a quality plan, a communications plan and a risk and issue log, with larger projects often having more extensive management documents. In every case, of course, the methodology is deployed to deliver tangible results.
Technologies
Elektra Media uses a range of development technologies, whether developing for CD/DVD, or web, ranging from interactive technologies such as Flash to backend coding such as ASP and PHP.
Elektra Media develops for both PC and Macintosh platforms across a range of OS versions and browser technologies.
The following are key concepts within our architectures:
- Extensibility and reuse. Use of templates and engines provide a cost effective way of producing larger volumes of content
- Separation of content and interface to allow changes and updates to be made easily. This allows a new interface to be overlaid on content or similarly new content to be placed within the interface. Content is often held within XML structures to allow rapid portability.
- Good levels of accessibility. Basic accessibility is generally the result of good initial design, though Elektra Media is familiar with developing products with more stringent accessibility requirements.
- Good levels of development documentation to allow maintenance and support if required
- Adherence to standards. VLE and SCORM compliance is an ever growing requirement. Elektra Media is highly experienced in producing VLE packs and in metadata tagging to SCORM standards.
